General Questions

No. Paraguay has no minimum stay requirement. Temporary residency requires visiting at least once every 12 months. Permanent residency requires visiting at least once every 36 months. Most of our clients continue living and working wherever they choose.
Paraguay uses a territorial tax system. Some foreign-sourced income can be taxed at 0%, but treatment depends on source characterization, where work is performed, operational facts, and compliance. Key factors include where the activity is performed, where the economic use/market exists, and whether your structure and documentation support the claimed source.
  • 0% tax on foreign income - Territorial tax system (source characterization applies)
  • Minimal presence requirements - Temporary stage: annual presence compliance; permanent stage: up to 3-year absence window
  • Reasonable processing - 3-9 months typical (varies by queue)
  • Low cost - No investment required for standard residency
  • Path to citizenship - Eligible after 3 years permanent residency
  • Political stability - Consistent, business-friendly policies

Requirements & Documents

No to both. The medical exam requirement was removed. The $5,000 bank deposit requirement was eliminated in 2022. These are outdated requirements you may see on other websites that haven't updated their information. Paraguay now has one of the most accessible residency programs in Latin America.
  • Valid passport (6+ months validity)
  • Birth certificate (apostilled)
  • Police clearance/background check (apostilled)
  • Passport-style photos
  • Marriage certificate if applicable (apostilled)

All documents must be apostilled in your home country and translated to Spanish. We coordinate the translation process for you.

No, not for the residency process. We provide Spanish interpretation at all government appointments and handle all documentation in Spanish. While Spanish knowledge is helpful for daily life if you plan to live there, it's not required for obtaining residency.

Process & Timeline

Most clients complete the process in 3-9 months from document submission to residency approval. The Cédula (national ID) adds additional time. The timeline depends on:
  • Document completeness and preparation (2-4 weeks for apostilles)
  • Government processing times (variable by queue)
  • Background check processing (international checks vary by country)
  • Cédula issuance (varies significantly by queue and case factors)

Beware of "guaranteed timeline" promises — government processing varies and no provider can control Migraciones queues.

To reach permanent residency, you need at least 3 visits over 2 years:
  • Trip 1: Document submission and biometrics (apply for temporary residency)
  • Trip 2: Within 12 months (required to maintain temporary residency)
  • Trip 3: After 2 years (convert to permanent residency)

The 12-month rule is strictly enforced. If you wait longer than 12 months between visits, your permanent residency application will be denied and you will have to restart the 2-year clock. Some services promote "one-trip" solutions, but the government now enforces the 12-month absence requirement.

Temporary Residency: The first step for most applicants. Valid for 1 year, renewable. Gives you a Cédula (national ID) and access to the territorial tax system.

Permanent Residency: Available after 21-24 months of temporary residency, or immediately via the SUACE investor route. Required before applying for citizenship.

Costs & Pricing

Our public pricing focuses on residency packages: Essential, Premium, and Investor. Third-party costs such as apostilles, translations, travel, and government charges vary by case and timing. We confirm scope and expected out-of-pocket items during your consultation before you commit.
Yes! We accept Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USDC, and USDT. Pay with crypto and receive a 5% discount on all residency packages.
Our approval rate is 98%, but in the rare case of denial:
  • Denied due to our error: 100% refund of service fees
  • Denied due to undisclosed issues: No refund (e.g., criminal record you didn't tell us about)

We thoroughly vet all applicants during the initial consultation to prevent denial scenarios.

After Residency

Yes. Spouses and dependent children can be included in your application. Each family member requires their own documents and their own service scope. We quote family cases based on the number of applicants and the level of support required.
Yes. After 3 years of permanent residency, you can apply for Paraguayan citizenship through a judicial process. You'll need basic Spanish proficiency. Paraguay's constitution permits dual citizenship, but your home country's laws may affect your ability to retain both passports. Consult qualified legal advice for your specific situation. The Paraguay passport offers visa-free access to 140+ countries.
Yes. With your Cédula (national ID), you can open personal bank accounts in Paraguay. Business accounts typically require additional documentation and longer processing. Larger transfers may require source-of-funds documentation. Our Premium and Investor packages include a banking introduction to help facilitate the process. Banking approval is at the bank's discretion.
Yes. As of April 2026, DNIT Resolution General 47/2026 introduced annual informative reporting for qualifying cryptocurrency activity. Residents and entities with annual crypto transactions exceeding approximately USD 5,000 in reportable categories must file an annual declaration via Marangatu (due 3rd month after fiscal year end). This is a disclosure obligation, not itself a new tax. View complete RG 47/2026 guide.
